hey, you! happy Saturday!
thanks for reading the sixth issue of The Kids Are All Right, your weekly TikTok digest from me, a millennial whose house currently smells a little bit too much like incense.
enjoy,

🎶 What’s Lena Thinkin’ About? 🎶
OH MY GOD i am so tired, you guys. i impulsively decided to start a women’s film club via TikTok on Tuesday and overnight received over 1,000 sign-ups. we are called the Daughters of Pauline (as in Kael), and i have spent all my weekday evenings getting together a group of admins, vetting membership applications, and drafting a charter for the group. in simpler terms: i decided my full-time project management work wasn’t nutty enough and decided to take on extracurricular project management.
BUT i decided to take said extra work on because i am so passionate about this project. so many women don’t have spaces to discuss films that are not bombarded by Tarantino enthusiasts or Kubrick apologists. i had the distinct privilege of studying Film Studies at a women’s college, and that is an experience i want to share with as many people as possible!
for obvious reasons (avoiding Zoom bombings and other online harassment), we are a pretty locked down group, so i will not be talking about our goings-on outside of meetings — but this has constituted the bulk of my week outside of work, so, there you have it.
my Most Anticipated Horror Movies of 2021 feature also came out at The Playlist!
i’ve also been:
🎵 listening to: the narrative horror podcast Scare You to Sleep and that podcast’s exact opposite, Wonderful!
👁 watching: every horror movie IFC/IFC Midnight put out in 2020 (Kindred, The Wretched, The Other Lamb)
📚 reading: absolutely nothing, my brain is currently made of mashed potato
The Main Event
here are some of the best TikToks i’ve seen recently.
✨✨✨
Dreamy Loops
i have been enamored with the content of a TikTok user named Brittany (a.k.a. @bmk0124) since i first got the app. this 20-year-old creates calming little fantasy short films and shoots them in her bedroom, using the TikTok looping function to create peaceful narratives that can carry on in perpetuity. said narratives are usually focused on funky crafts. i have genuinely never disliked a single video she’s made, so here are some of the most recent shorts on her feed:
Unbothered Kev
there is an older dude named Kevin Fulginiti who exists on TikTok under the moniker @unbotheredkev. he is, indeed, very unbothered. basically, he just chills out, drives around Massachusetts, and dances to music — mostly Harry Styles and One Direction(!?). thank you to my friend in Daughters of Pauline who alerted me to his presence. if this guy ever gets milkshake ducked, i simply don’t want to hear about it.
there is not a single part of this video that is not enjoyable
and finally, my favorite: rest stop punching bag + One Direction
Stuffed Animal Repair
i have a long, emotional personal history with stuffed animals. when i was tiny, one of my favorite activities was lining all of them up and reciting their names to any unfortunate visitors to my home. (i would then quiz said visitor on the aforementioned names, like a very wholesome bridge troll.) there is something uniquely sweet and satisfying about seeing the occasional stuffed animal restoration video on my feed, so i’ve compiled some for you here.
Misc. Delightful Content
you know what’s up.
it’s okay to find this funny now, right? enough time has passed?
Dancer of the Week
that’s it for now! remember: if we’re kind and polite, the world will be right. 🐻
