hey, you! happy Sunday!
thanks for reading the twelfth issue of The Kids Are All Right, a weekend TikTok digest written by me, the proud earner of $845,066 Stardew Valley dollars.

🎶 What’s Lena Thinkin’ About? 🎶
this week went by very quickly! i’ve had lots to do and what feels like not a ton of time to do it, but it happens. my film club watched an Emma (2020)/Clueless double feature this week, which was an absolutely delightful combo. (although i think Clueless, in retrospect, could be a lot more charitable to its teen girl protagonist and a lot less charitable to her stepbrother.)
i also just got a haircut for the first time in a full year, which was a trippy experience. as more and more people get vaccinated and the world begins opening up again, i’m a little worried about how i’ll adjust. i’ve barely left my apartment for such a long time that going to the salon in Bushwick felt like the adventure of a lifetime. but i’m sure there are about 1,000 thinkpieces about that out there already.
otherwise, i’ve been:

The Main Event
here are some of my favorite TikToks as of late.
✨✨✨
The Great Outdoors
i love nature very much. i am big into camping. when i used to be able to spend time in Manhattan for fun, i was known to kill an evening or two (and way too much money) inside REI. i try to go on at least one outdoor excursion per year, but i would love to make that more like one outdoor excursion per month in an ideal world. in the meantime, i’ve been sitting on a treasure trove of videos that remind me just how beautiful the world can be.
Bedtime Stories
i am a huge fan of illustrator Sophy Mariam, who i discovered via TikTok last year. i now own three of her prints and have them hanging around my apartment, offering comfort and whimsy. on TikTok, she narrates detailed little backstories for each piece as she illustrates it. the process is nothing short of enchanting. here are a few of my favorite videos she’s made.
Coffee Critters
@cookingwithamyy, who was running a run-of-the-mill baking account, hit viral pay dirt late January when she posted a video of some tiny animal meringues floating in coffee. she has since been commissioned to make little marshmallow creatures of all kinds, and the results are nothing short of divine.
Misc. Delightful Content
you know what’s up.
i am such a sucker for paw prints in the snow
Dancer of the Week
that’s it for now! remember: if we’re kind and polite, the world will be right. 🐻
