hey, you! happy Saturday!
thanks for reading the TENTH(!!!!!) issue of The Kids Are All Right, your weekly TikTok digest from a woman who once cried at a wedding where she knew neither the bride nor the groom.
enjoy,

iāve had a bit of a weird week, but iām excited for a long Valentineās Day weekend! my film club is watching the gorgeous gay romance And Then We Danced, iām going to buy lots of discount candy from my local drugstore, and Neil is snugglier than ever. my Arizona-based best friends and i all downloaded this app called Cappuccino that makes us feel like weāre on a podcast together. all in all, i am surrounded by love and very grateful for it.
and i LOVE love. i am immune to the concept of corniness. i tell my friends i love them because it is true. i watch highly stupid romantic comedies (yes, even straight ones!) and often enjoy myself. i love giving people cards and eating chocolate and thinking fondly about the people who make me feel fond. so if you were looking for a cynical newsletter about how Valentineās Day is another national holiday of corporate shilling, i am sorry to report that you will not find it here.
love is what makes the world go āround! tell someone you love them today!
when not mooning, iāve also been:
šµ listening to: French pop
š watching: Law & Order: SVU,Ā misc. disappointing horror movies

The Main Event
here are some TikToks to warm your cold, dead heart.

V-Day
just some good, old-fashioned Valentineās Day-themed TikToks for your viewing pleasure.
a woman paints her boyfriend some cute rocks in celebration of the holiday (which, true quarantine TikTokkers will remember, she also did last year!)

Electric Love
last summer The Youth went crazy with the song āElectric Loveā by BĆRNS ā which, to be fair, absolutely slaps. thereās something very pure about TikTokās obsession with this song. after all, donāt we all want first kisses that make us feel like weāve hit the apex of a catchy pop song?
a lot of people kissed their best friends for the first time to this song and then filmed it. i am not going to link to any of those videos because the people on TikTok who thought that was a good idea were mostly ā surprise! ā teenagers. but here are some other very cute riffs on the trend.
My Favorite TikTok Couple
speaking of fantastic TikTok couples, allow me to introduce you to Ian Paget and Chris Olsen, two dudes who blew up on TikTok by recreating heterosexual prank challenges. the results werenāt just āharmless couple fun, but make it gay,ā ā their videos often yielded touching, insightful, funny little lessons on life and love. watch below to learn how to water your own soil!!
this video is honestly just what i watch when my therapist has to reschedule our appointments
ādonāt use my name like that, it wasnāt meant to be said like that!ā
and finally, a lesson on watering your own soil
